Do you believe that it is possible to fall in love with someone that differs from your sexual orientation? Now, before anyone starts I'm not saying everyone is bi, or that everyone has had - or will have - this experience. I am just simply asking the question. Do you believe in the possibility that you could fall in love with someone who doesn't typically fit your ideals or sexual orientation (not that you will, just if it is POSSIBLE)? Sexuality and human emotions are a very complicated thing, that is why I am asking this question.

Yes. Plenty of gay men (and I'm sure vice versa with gay women) have married women that they whole heartedly loved and nurtured. Sometimes people really just do marry their best friends because they feel they are a perfect match and they understand each other. Sexuality is not necessarily linked to love.

I suppose so. It is very complicated. I've seen plenty of gorgeous women and have encountered many with great personalities, but for me a good relationship does need desire. I don't see these women as more than really good friends. For me personally, I need for someone who is sexually turned on by me and vice versa. When my mom asked me 'why can't a girl do those things for you,' when I came out, I told her it isn't the same. All my female friends make me laugh, but a guy who I am attracted to with humor stimulates me differently.

In short, yes, I do think it is possible, but I know for me I need there to be love and lust in a relationship.

But there's a key variable when you're talking about loving a friend vs. loving a partner/spouse: sexual attraction. I can honestly say I love my best friend like I would love a husband or a wife, just without the sexual attraction, ever ever ever (though she's quite beautiful, and I would probably be attracted if I were straight). That sort of indicates to me that it's never gonna happen for me and a girl

See, this is why, in my opinion, sexual orientations are irrelevant and, to a degree, nothing more than labels created by society to separate people into groups. Who one finds sexually attractive shouldn't define them - who he or she loves should. And one can't predict whom he or she will fall in love with, or his or her sex or gender for that matter.
