It always infuriated me how Gilmore Girls was marketed as a girly / romantic show with silly posters depicting Rory & Lorelai's relationships as central to the show, and while the Lorelai / Luke love story was obviously the overarching story, so was the pair's individual careers, life journeys, family etc. I've recently re-watched this series and the writing is flawless - and it infuriates me how the last season wasn't written by Amy Sherman-Palladino who wrote the previous six seasons.

Anyway - what do you guys think? I know a lot of people had issue with the show because of it's character / dialogue focus and very little plot or action, but this is what made me love it. Plus the tag line "Life's short, talk fast" is me to a T. However, I could only wish for the witty repertoire and pop-culture references the characters on this show endlessly splurt out.

The hyperspeed audio damaged any chance of it becoming legendary.

But that's literally why I loved it and at the very core I why I think it's underrated. In that dialogue were some of the most hilarious, witty jokes that even if you didn't catch were hilarious because of their delivery. Ugh my tears at the unjust finale!

Yes. I thought it was a wonderful show. I liked the writing.

I came in here to say something similar. I thought I was the only one. The dialogue was spoken way too quickly, past the point of annoying.

But the premise of the show was decent.

It was totally fantastic. The fast-audio was absolutely the best part.

The dialogues ***** on 90% on the series that airs on tv nowadays ... it's a shame the show was drowned in all those terrible WB shows ... It's a perfect mix between drama and comedy.

And yeah the show was classified as girly and it's not at all, it's about family (especially parents overstepping on your life) and carreers (building an enterprise, student lifestyle ... etc)

Not at all. It's actually highly acclaimed and appreciated.

And I think the correct term most of y'all are looking for is "dialogue", not "audio". The series is renowned for the fast pace speech of the characters.

Critically yes, but most people I talk to just don't get it.

I watched the rerun so many times i don't even notice the fast paced dialogue anymore ... it's perfectly normal.

Lorelei is the only one (along with some quirky secondary characters) who have long train of thoughts ...

It's the best tv show of all time, so yeah probably! Even the much-derided season 7 is kind of flawless. Love the subtle deterioration of Lane and Rory's friendship, for instance. It's so real. When two friends have completely different paths in life and still try to find common ground but it becomes a more awkward, formal, polite relationship. Everything about this show is so holy, I can't even. Probably watched every episode close to 10 times.

Oh yeah i also still can't get over the fact that Amy Sherman didn't write the last season ...

Jess started off as the guy from hell but he became flaw-free with time. In his last cameo he was SMOKING hot.
