Discussion: Does J&D fit ARTPOP?

Sooo, first of all, a lot of people including fans and critics say that J&D doesn't really fit the album. I agree that ARTPOP is not an album with lots of urban sonorities except DWUW but does that mean that J&D doesn't belong? Come on! We're talking about Gaga, let's try to analyze the music in a deeper way. I don't know if you remember but before releasing the album, Gaga was thinking about releasing two albums: ARTPOP Vol.1 with the commercial songs and ARTPOP Vol. 2 with the experimental songs. Originally, they were meant to be separated. Now I think that Jewels & Drugs can be divided into two parts. Part 1 from the beginning till Gaga's verse and Part 2 starting with Too $hort's verse till the end of the song. What's interesting is that in Part 1 we have T.I., who is definitely the most mainstream rapper among the three and that in Part 3 we have Twista, who is more underground. In-between there's Too $hort, who is more of an icon (he released his first album when Gags was one years old and most of our parents hadn't even met). Actually, you could argue that there are three parts in J&D if you consider that Too $hort -- the transition between the commercial and the experimental -- has a distinct part. So whether we have 2 or 3 parts what is important is that they are NOT separated (she could have done a whole song with T.I. and another one with Twista for instance). Indeed, the song is all about bringing together two entities that seem opposite at first sight (the commercial and the experimental, the ART and the POP) because Gaga thought that they could belong together. And she proved it with Jewels 'n' Drugs. Now that's what ARTPOP is about. Please give the song a chance, I think it's truly amazing.

I'm sorry but I think that you can actually analyze Gaga's songs/albums. It's not the case with every pop artist. But if you disagree it's okay.

YES it fits. ARTPOP could mean ANYTHING!! ANYTHING she says, and you guys still thinking you understand the concept better than the artist herself.

Please. If the entire ARTPOP era has shown us anything, it's that Gaga does not put that much thought into her output (anymore). It's clear she just wanted to have...

It seems Gaga needs to give her fans something better to mull over these days while she plans her next critically panned/ignored spectacle. Like a single, or a video, or even a decent tour poster.

I think it does, even though I wouldn't mind if Brooklyn Nights was on the album instead of it.

The instrumental is the only thing that's redeeming about the song. There is NOTHING "artistic" about a song called jewels 'n' drugs and honey pancakes and in my personal opinion, you're trying to pull something out of NOTHING. There is NOTHING to this song. It is simply "fun" as that horrid Too $hort verse says, if you can even call it that. One of her worst songs, sorry. But then again, that may just be why it's on Artpop.

Sorry, I just wanted to share my ideas

Mostly, I really wanted to figure out why she chose T.I., Too $hort and Twista. But maybe you have better ideas? Or maybe you don't think about these things when you're listening to the song, which is okay. With ARTPOP I think you can have fun while listening to the music but also try and analyze the concept, that's it.

I like it but recently I only listen to the remix with Iggy/Nicki/Ke$ha !!
