Alicia Keys Returns to Lima (Peru) after Visiting Machu Picchu

The US R&B/soul singer and composer arrived alone to Peru last Sunday and is to stay here until Friday, January 4.
Alicia Augillo Cook, also known as Alicia Keys, visited the Sacred Valley of the Incas and has taken a tour of the archaeological ruins of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and Peru’s main tourist attraction.
The 27-year-old recording artist, who has also won eleven Billboard Music Awards, is being escorted by her private security and has chosen not to be seen in public.
Keys is staying at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, and due to bad weather conditions in the area could not head back to Cusco this morning.
During 2007, the Imperial City was visited by celebrities like Olivia Newton John, Cameron Díaz, Chairman of Microsoft Corporation Bill Gates and Princess Beatrice of England, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Over 60 percent of hotels were booked in the region of Cusco for New Year's Eve celebrations, reported the president of the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Cusco, Edwin Gonzales.
