Pharrell set to unveil brand-new song for Red Bull

Producer, rapper, frontman and serial collaborator Pharrell Williams has teamed up with Red Bull
Pharrell Williams is the man of the moment.
The pop magician behind super producers The Neptunes collected a gong for Daft Punk at the Grammy Awards. He caused mass hysteria at the Brit Awards, where that hat – the one he’s now auctioning off for thousands of dollars – was delivered atop a red cushion. And on March 2 he’ll be at the Academy Awards representing the Oscar-nominated song, Happy, he provided for Despicable Me 2.
But bigger news than all of that is the announcement he’s about to step back into the limelight as a solo artist. Last week Pharrell told the world he’s releasing his latest (second) solo album G I R L on March 3 on Columbia Records.
The first anyone will hear from the album, featuring guest spots from Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Daft Punk and Alicia Keys, will be on the latest World of Red Bull advert, which airs on March 1. We’ll have it right here on RedBull.com/Music.
Pharrell is also appearing on the cover of Red Bulletin. The magazine’s in-depth interview with the multi-talented star, which hits the stands on March 11, will see him talking about writing Happy for Despicable Me 2 and what we can expect from G I R L.
Pharrell told Red Bulletin editor Andreas Tzortzis: “I think most of the time we hear songs that are written at women versus for. You know, it is like most products. It is not really for them, it is just marketed at their insecurities... My thing is let’s start doing things with them truly in mind – truly in mind.”
Keep your eyes peeled, too, for an exclusive Red Bulletin video of Pharrell with BMX pro Nigel Sylvester – one of the musician’s current inspirations.
