Since I joined this forum I've started to accept and love myself for who i am and accepted the fact that I'm bi (probably just gay tho) and that that's not going to change. (IK this is cheesy af)
I wanna come out to my sister and I wanna know how your coming out experience was

Did it change your life a lot?
Did you expect the reactions or were they completely different?
Do you wish that you hadn't come out?
Please include if your family is religious or not

I've come out twice. The first time was to my friends and it was disastrous. My closest friend told everyone and their mother when it was supposed to be a secret, and my gay best friend at that time thought that I was copying him since he came out that month, and started spreading vicious rumors. I was depressed for over a year and a half.

Second time was to my parents, a year later, and it was the easiest thing in the world.

June 2, 2013. I was going to Albany, New York, to spend the week of my 17th birthday at my birthday with my then-boyfriend who lives over there, so since my parents had paid for the flights and everything I figured I should tell them

They're really open-minded so they were like okay we suspected it but we don't have a problem with it

EDIT: first person I came out to is my best friend tho, that was two months earlier.

Is it bad that I came out to my parents/friends last year and I didn't even bother to remember the day?

I wish my parents were like that. Actually I dont know how they feel about gays. I just know that my sister is kind of homophobic but that's just because she doesn't really know a lot about gays (just like the rest of the world

I'm not out to anyone but one of my friends (the one that is extremely hot and that I have a crush on ). Anyway, we were texting each other at like 2am on Christmas night after hanging out with a bunch of people when I came out to him. He texted me a picture of a girl he thought was hot and I sent him a thumbs down emoji and he basically kept questioning why I did that. He went "okay which girl do you find hot then" since I never even pretended to find a girl attractive to cover it up so I just said none. I'm gay. Surprisingly he didn't care and for the most part we're actually closer friends than we were before. He tells me all this personal **** he doesn't say to anyone else, his sexual experiences... etc etc. It's kind of annoying though now that he blames everything I do on my sexuality as all he sees me as is gay.

I first came out to my best friend when I was 16 (she was the only one I straight up told I'm gay) and I was completely out by spring last year (aged 17). I haven't really told my parents yet but they definitely know. I don't want to have 'the talk' because that's not how we do things in our family and not how I did it with my friends.

Did it change your life a lot? Yes, I feel more comfortable around people and it's easier to be myself
Did you expect the reactions or were they completely different? They were as expected, people generally didn't care. I guess that's one of the perks of living in a pretty accepting country.

I would get disowned if I came out.

but only my closest friends know and they accepted me for who I am.

I came out to my friends during college, and they all basically knew so it wasn't such a big deal. It was very liberating.

My elder sibling asked me and I just came out with it! Said sibilant doesn't really care. Shortly after I came out to my mom and she is in denial. She's always going on about how being gay isn't natural and not right. For her being gay is really like being a different specie, she truly cannot fathom As a result there will always be this barrier between the two of us that I imagine is either going to get better or get worse.

I know I would feel that way too but I dont wanna explain to everyone that gays dont find every male human being attractive and that I didnt choose to be gay

Ironic thing was was that I came out to make his experience better. It was shattering. Especially since my other friend took his side.

I only came out to my mother. I wanted to tell hermultiple times but i was to scarred and one time she asked if i awas gay and i told her

I came out when I was 12, it really wasn't a big deal.

Did it change your life a lot? Not really, I got the same amount of abuse as I did before. It just enabled me to use amazing comebacks

Please include if your family is religious or not? My wider family is catholic but my mum & dad are atheists. The catholics of my mum's generation that know aren't bothered about it. I see no point in telling my grandparents, I know they won't be ok with it and wouldn't want to ruin the bond I have with them.

I was 17 and my bf was like 21 I think. I was with him and he brought me to my house and sat in the car while I went and told my parents that the reason I've been away from home so much was because I was hanging out with my boyfriend

They were ok with it I guess. Then I left and went back to my bf's apartment and had some... Fun

So my advice would be to not come out to your parents first because then that way of they react badly you can lean on someone who was fine with it. You won't feel so alone. Also don't be scared because honestly your parents probably already have some inclination of it unless you are really good at hiding it or if they are really delusional.
