Do the British really spell "Mom" like "Mum" though? And we don't spell "Tight" like "Tite"

British obviously. The language is English not American It's a shame that Americanised English is taught more internationally.

I can do both. The pronunciation is the tricky part.

They do, my English teacher even corrected me in a test because I wrote "mom" instead of "mum"

American English is like an unnecessarily easier version, and the single L's kill me

It doesn't really matter, they're near enough the same in most cases. Aluminum though.

I feel as if one accent shouldn't have a greater prestige than the other.

Anyways, the form of English spoken in the U.K. has changed a lot since the U.S. was colonized so it's not necessarily the older form.

English, words like 'analyze', I use 'z' instead of the 's'.

American, but I sometimes use 'moustache' and 'colour'.

I think the people who created the language are correct on the spelling of the words. Canada, Australia etc. etc. can back us up on this

Aluminum isn't even the correct scientific spelling.

Always British. That's how we Germans learn it at school and that's how I've kept it. My accent is also definately more English than American.

It's not even "the British" way tho. It's "the rest of the world". "The right way." America tried to be different

It's spelt like it's pronounced... I think it'd be unlikely you'd find anybody outside of America and select parts of Canada that calls their mother that whiny "MAWMMMMM" pronunciation.
