Why is that every time there is a discussion thread about racism, ATRL is always messy as hell and it always ends up getting closed? Why can't ATRL handle it? I just don't understand

because people are either "every white person is racist and black people are the only reason America exists" or "black people are devils and white people are awesome." Everyone in between gets labeled either one way or the other.

Because it's an American thing and not everybody on here is American… plus it's a pretty touchy subject and we like to shove!

Because people don't like to accept facts

i'm getting attacked for it cuz they think i hate every race god if only people knew me lol

It's not that people can't take it necessarily, it's the fact that people never want to accept the facts that are presented as well as people consistently downplaying things that shouldn't be downplayed as if they were of little significance when it was just as significant

Because some users think that racism is funny and some are actually racists (a quick little trip to SYG will prove that)

This is true. People can't have middle-of-the-road opinions without someone getting dramatic & copping a "YOU'RE WITH US OR AGAINST US" attitude. No one wins & we all end up fighting over our own opinions.

This is why we can't have these discussions: because they make white people uncomfortable and that's SUPER UNFAIR.
