A hacker group claiming to have ties to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has claimed responsibility for hacking the online accounts of several well-known media organizations and other companies.
Forbes confirmed Feb. 14 that hackers had managed to "compromise" its digital publishing platform, with contributors' email addresses and encrypted passwords possibly being "exposed." The Syrian Electronic Army has taken responsibility for the attack.
The Syrian Electronic Army claimed on Twitter that it had obtained more than 1 million account credentials of Forbes users. (Forbes allows users to sign up in order to comment on articles).
