New single from pop/rock singer-songwriter Laura Lee Bishop (currently based out of Nashville/NYC) just hit iTunes today! I am not one to really create threads, but I know this singer personally and she is a fantastic vocalist who is also an awesome songwriter and performer. Laura Lee is currently signed with independent label Tommy Boy Entertainment (who have previously housed Queen Latifah, Everlast and House of Pain) and I think she has a great future ahead of her! She had previously self-released a country-rock EP called "Fire" in 2009, but the new material is leaning more in the pop direction. Over the last few years, Laura Lee has made it to the Hollywood rounds twice on American Idol and collaborated with some great musicians/songwriters who have worked with some major country and rock acts. Her new album should be out this year and there is some really great, big melodic stuff for people looking for a nice alternative to the current dance-pop/urban-leaning material coming from female acts.
Definitely check her out if you haven't heard of her! Her style is very reminiscent of late 80's female powerhouses (think Pat Benatar or Heart) with modern pop-rock sensibilities.
"Real Man" lyric video (via Tommy Boy Entertainment):
Great to hear! A single release party just took place tonight in Houston, TX and the response was fantastic, so things are off to a good start! She has a few other new songs that are just outstanding (a couple of which I like better than this) so I'm glad people will finally get to hear them this year!
