Owl City and Carly's "Good Time" loses plagiarism lawsuit
Quote:
Singer Ally Burnett sued Carly, Owl City, and their label for copyright infringement back in 2012, claiming "Good Time" copied her song "Ah, It's a Love Song."
The judge in the case has agreed, ordering BMI -- the company that collects the royalties for "Good Time" -- to pay Ally $804,156 in "we're sorry" money.
What kind of magic did that girl have to pull to win this lawsuit? Only the "Oh, oh" part of her song sounds similar to Good Time, and even that is a bit of a reach.
the "oh oh oh oh oh" (such songwriting, much lyrics) parts in "Good Time" are pretty much identical to this girls song and since they used that part over and over and over (such repetition, much chorus) I can see how she won.
