Carrie is not happy w/ the lack of female success in country
Quote:
In both 2012 and 2013, just three of the top 25 artists on Billboard’s Top Country Songs chart were solo women. In a Billboard Country Update column last fall, we heard what country radio has to say about this, but what do the artists themselves think?
Carrie Underwood was one of the artists who made that list of three both years (along with Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift), and she’s among the ranks of those hoping things will improve for females this year.
“You would think that we would be farther along in the thinking about women in country music,” Underwood says. “I like to think things are getting better, but then I see stats like [the one cited above] and realize that women really do seem to get the short end.”
Theories abound about why women get short-changed in country music, but Underwood notes, “There is certainly not a shortage of talented ladies out there that want so badly to get their fair shot in this business. But there seems to be only room for only a few.” On the flip side, she says, “there seem to be so many male singers out there who can be viewed as similar, and there seems to be plenty of room for all of them.
“We see new male artists have their first single reach No. 1 on the charts, but it generally takes a female a lot longer to build momentum,” Underwood continues. “I know that I am an exception to this, but I [also] know that if I hadn’t made my place in country music via ‘American Idol,’ I probably could have tried to make it for the rest of my life and never made any progress.”
One working theory is that song content has been a potential factor in the male/female disparity. Women—the theory goes—tend to write and/or choose to record songs with more substance and deeper themes than the “Parking Lot Party”-type songs that are working so well for the male artists right now.
Underwood agrees that that theory has some merit. “I don’t think women can get away with the partying, beer-drinking, hung-over, truck-driving kind of music that a lot of the guys have gotten away with lately,” she says.

She's trying to help other women. I doubt she's so selfish she cares about her wig being snatched. You should understand full well as a Britney stan

Queen Carrie, while I agree with EVERYTHING you said, I am NOT here for any blacklash against you on radio, this next era needs to SLAY on every level, because we all know that's what your talent deserves.

It's ok, Taylor will save the genre with ARTCOUNTRY.
But on a serious note, Kellie's album is full of songs that should smash on country radio. Kacey and Ashley Monroe have more substance to their music than essentially every person on country radio right now. These girls should be doing a lot better on radio... And I'm sure Faith Hill's gonna release her 3rd consecutive flop buzz single because #sexism + #ageism = #deathofcareer
The girls deserve better.
They should go pop.

Don't worry, sis.
Carrie voiced her support for Gay marriage in 2012 and nothing happened to her (although the rednecks wanted her to die ).

To be fair Taylor (aside from her debut) has always walked a fine line between being pop. She's not country any more at all, so it's not right to count her in that because she had to step away from the country audience to make it big.
Shania is an exception to that, but what's she contributed to music this last decade?
Miranda and Carrie are the only big successful women country artists today. Kacey Musgraves could have had a shot, but I fear that because of the message she puts across she's not going to last due to people still being stuck in the 20th Century.
It's sad... but what she says is true.

The reality is that women are not selling in Country though. I wrote a post about this recently.
I understand it is an issue but the radio stations are not going to play artists who don't sell, because their business relies on getting listeners so that they can charge for on-air advertising.
Only 3 women in Country, Taylor, Carrie and Miranda are even reaching Platinum albums these days, and Miranda is taking years to do so. I don't think any other women in Country are even reaching Gold for albums. Kacey has only sold 315k in 8 months. Gold is achievable for Kacey thanks to Grammy boost but there is no way Same Trailer, Different Park will go Platinum.

No, she doesn't need to shut up.
You need shut up and let her express herself and the problems she feels there are in the industry and with female recording artists.
Some successful people don't just want to be successful and contribute nothing more than commercially-successful songs.
Some people successful and not, want to inspire, move forward and be the change they want to see in the world around them and in others.

I understand what you're saying but if radio stations started playing more females, they would obviously sell more.
In 2012, only 3 females made it to #1 : Carrie, Taylor and Miranda.

To be fair, Taylor has topped Hot Country Songs (WANEGBT in Jan 2013) and Country Songs Airplay (HDC in June 2013) more recently than Carrie. Miranda has topped both charts more recently than either of them, thanks to her duet with Keith Urban.
