NZ Parliament celebrates Lorde, mention Bey & Taylor Swift

After gaining worldwide acclaim following her two Grammy wins yesterday, Lorde has also received congratulations from the New Zealand's MPs.
"What is most remarkable about Ella is that she's done it all in her own way., said Prime Minister John Key in today's first sitting of the House. "Typically Kiwi - in an unassuming way. If there are rules, no one told Lorde,"
"She has busted stereotypes and along the way won hearts."
The praise comes after Lorde took home two Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
The 15 minute tribute included speeches from multiple parties.
Labour leader David Cunliffe called Lorde a role model for young New Zealanders and musicians striving to achieve their dreams.
Maori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell said Beyonce "still does it for me", but Lorde "is still right up there".
Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei said the wins were a proud moment for the country.
what if Obama did this every time an American artist had a successful era...?
Except how many successful American artists are there, and how many NZ artists have successfully broke into the American market like Lorde?
Lorde is the first Global superstar from NZ. Of course NZ's parliament is going to make a big deal about, she made the entire country proud. Why not celebrate someone's success, someone who's proved that people from a tiny country like NZ can dream big?

Personally, I like it's really awesome that the NZ parliament is so supportive of Lorde. If I was an artist, and I got recognition from my country's parliament I would be so happy.
But as much as I love Kimbra she remains to be a one hit wonder. She did pretty damn well in NZ and Australia where she's been building a solid fan base for years. Her album did pretty well in the US for a NZ artist, but she never had the same/similar success that she had in NZ/Aus that she did worldwide.
Not trying to take anything away from Kimbra - I was so proud when Somebody That I Used To Know went number 1.
