Should people be allowed to use slurs if they belong to a certain group e.g. should gay people be allowed to say the 'f' word, and should black people be allowed to say the 'n' word etc.?

It always depends on the intention. White man calls black man n*** because he wants to offend him. Black man calls another black man n**** as if he called him a mate.

I don't like any type of derogatory slurs, and I wish no one one would use 'em, but I can understand those that use it as a coping mechanism. It's become pretty common for terms like the N word to become regular terminology for those that were previously victimized of it, because they want to take the power away from it. They want to turn it into a joke and take away the negative stigma. I understand that, and it doesn't bother me at all.

Although, at the end of the day I'd rather just no one uses them. Period.

I don't have a problem with any of the words, I might have a problem with the way they are used or pronounced though... context and intention can make any word acceptable or offensive

I personally don't think anyone should use them, just putting that out there.

If you have class and a sense of self-respect you should not use vulgar language.

I really don't care. If you want to say a slur, so be it, but if one is thrown at you don't get mad. I, personally, don't use any slurs normally but I don't judge anyone that does.

i say ****, ****, bitch; literally any vulgar word that exists has escaped my mouth at some point. that doesn't mean i don't posses self-respect.

I can't believe that I'm paraphrasing Mean Girls, but there was something like "if you call each other ****s, you make boys think it's okay to call you ****s" or something like that.
I think that as a joke it can be used inside the group the slur is directed at, but never by others (unless quoting for some good reason), especially when it's a member of a group that created the slur. I flip every time a guy calls a girl a ****, same thing applies to straights vs gays and blacks vs whites.
Concerning n word - I don't think you should get angry at foreigners who don't know the exact meaning of the word - educate them nicely instead. those who understand, however
