I mean, I don't hear anyone complaining about Stereo sound... (in case you didn't know people used to listen to just to 1 source of sound a decades ago, we know enjoy the glorious 2 channel stereo sound and even 5.1, 7.1 and so on...)

But when it comes to 3D Movies everyone likes to jump to the hate wagon and bawl about it being a gimmick, bla, bla, bla.

The more realistic, the better, right

They give me a headache.

I literally refuse to see 3D movies if there is a 2D option available. Simply because you have to pay extra for the glasses, the glasses are irritating and uncomfortable as hell and lets face it the 3D commercials before the movie even starts is better 3D than anything in the movie.

Most of the movies that are 3D don't even have any good 3D scenes.

it depends on the kind of movie you're watching. Sometimes the 3D is spectacular if the cinematography is really great, or if the CG effects or animation is top notch. i hate 3D films if the 3D doesn't add anything to the movie experience.

for example, Avatar was really impressive in 3D, Frozen looked really good in 3D, Gravity's 3D made the film even better.

it's different when it's just a random action movie that only wants to sell more money by putting out a 3D counterpart. it just depends on the film you're watching whether or not the 3D is worth it.

3D just doesn't do anything for me. When it comes to the movies, in first place I'm attracted to story and performances, 3d doesn't add anything to that, and often it takes away form it tbh.

I'm kinda the same. I'll watch a movie in 3D if everyone generally agrees that seeing it in 3D adds something extra to the movie, but usually I'll opt for 2D if I feel like a movie has been converted into 3D for no reason other than to make more money.

After sitting for almost 3 hours watching Titanic and The Hobbit I decided not to watch 3D movies anymore.

Likewise. I have to wear the 3d Glass on top of my actual glasses. An absolute struggle.

Most movies with 3D don't even need it and it's just another way to make more money. The ONLY 3D movie I've watched that actually made sense to me was Gravity.

Here's the deal. Some films are natively shot in 3D with side-by-side cameras. These films tend to look great in 3D and no one really complains unless 3D inherently makes them dizzy.

Other films are shot in 2D and then post-converted to 3D using computers. These are generally crappy (clash of the titans 3D) and gave 3D a bad name. There are some exceptions though, like. Titanic 3D which spent over $10 million on post-conversion, leading to a great result.

I don't think people hate the 3D effect itself, it's just every single film right now is made in 3D without any reason. It's annoying.

exactly. I don't feel like I'm missing anything if I watch it in 2D and save money with it + prevent a headache.

1) I wear glasses
2) It gives me headache
3) I usually drive my car to the cinema and after a 3D movies you can't drive for 30 minutes.
4) It costs more
5) It's generally unpleasant and unnatural.
