Rapper Snoop Dogg has been sentenced to three years informal probation and 160 hours of community service for pleading guilty to possessing a collapsible baton.
The 35-year-old star, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr, was arrested in John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California in September 2006 after the baton was discovered in his carry-on luggage.
Snoop Dogg's lawyer, Donald Etra, said that the baton had been used in a musical sketch.
AdvertisementThe lawyer said that he had advised his client to plead not guilty but the rapper had wanted to resolve the issue quickly.
Snoop Dogg must also donate $10,000 to a children's charity under the terms of the deal agreed at Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana, California.
