Belief in the liberal (American Democrat) views on social equality (equal rights among LGBTQ/Women/etc.)
Belief in the conservative (American Republican) views on economic freedom (Capitalism, free market)
Belief in minimizing war and suffering to maximize utilitarianism
Belief in small government that doesn't put itself in the way of anybody's life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness.

Key examples of Libertarians:

Ron Paul (Texas congressman)
Gary Johnson (New Mexico governor)
Founding Fathers (All believed in freedom of economics and life without anybody telling you "no")

I've never even heard of libertarians. Wikipedia says there are 330k libertarians in the US so idk if you'll find any

ugh I always forget what this word means.

I'll add a definition to the OP, but basically its this:

Economic policies of the Republicans (Capitalism, free market)
Social stuff of the Democrats (Social equality)
Foreign policy based on minimizing wars (unlike both parties which try to do a ton of war)

The Libertarians basically believe in a small government that doesn't overextend itself into every element of our lives.

Lots of Democrats and Republicans are libertarians who just register with whatever party they feel like achieves their views the best

highly debatable.

Bush caused wars, Obama continued wars, the most recent presidents of both parties have created a ton of unnecessary war.

In terms of the actual philosophies, though, none of the major parties support war. But what they believe in and what the dumb leaders do is often different

He was a debt hoarding big government republican through and through..... and he was no friend of equal rights.
