I remember last year, when I took Creative Writing, one of the assignments we were given was to compile a list of favorite opening lines in songs. He told us it was so that we could take what made these opening lines so good, and apply them into our own writing, and in return become better writers ourselves. I don't remember my whole list, but I do remember 2 songs that placed really high on my list.
My #1 opening was in Rihanna's "Get It Over With".

That opening line meant a lot to me then, and it still does now. I like to remember it when things go down the drain.
And another one I really liked was Ke$ha's "Animal".

I feel like a lot of people can relate to it, and it can have different meanings to different people, which is why I like it so much.
