ABC always intended "The Assets" to be a short-run show -- just not this short.

The network has pulled the show, which was intended to spell "Scandal" for a couple months on Thursday nights, from its schedule after two low-rated episodes. Thursday's (Jan. 9) installment, in fact, drew the smallest adults 18-49 rating (0.6) of any first-run drama on the Big Four networks this season.

Its total audience was pretty meager as well -- 2.9 million, smaller than any other first-run show on the broadcast nets Thursday.

It's not really surprising, you can't "replace" Scandal like that, I wonder what they're going to air until Scandal comes back

Why are they replacing Scandal just because of two low-rated episodes? Or am I just reading the article wrong?

As far as I can tell, they made a show to replace Scandal before they air the next season and the show they made to replace it was lowly rated so they have taken it off air.

If ABC keeps it up they'll be able to get into the same self-deprecating "we suck!" humour that NBC uses so gratuitously.

Kind of unfortunate. I think the broadcast networks should actually consider trying out more mini-series and shorter seasons like cable networks. But they should do it with concepts that are actually interesting.

I agree. They need to do better concepts and take more risks like cable networks.
