Billy Ray Cyrus may now be more famous for his gyrating, pot-smoking, mostly-naked sprog, but in 1992 (the year Miley was born), he was a breakout country star with a killer mullet and a hit that permeated globally.
Aided by a line dance that swept the country, ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ was at best a cheesy, catchy, silly song that unfortunately had a little more fame and impact (even two decades later) than it probably should have done. Billy Ray’s career continued throughout the nineties before he decided to focus on acting, and despite the odd release since he’s largely sidestepped the limelight, perhaps in favor of his daughter.
Now, however, that all might be about to change.
Billy Ray apparently told Larry King over the phone that he will be releasing a hip hop version of his classic hit in 2014. Larry promptly tweeted about it, causing a wave of whatthef***ery to sweep the internet. Perhaps Billy got tired of defending Miley and instead he wanted to be the one making the headlines and shocking audiences. If that’s the case, it certainly worked, as I am 100% intrigued to hear the car crash that is likely to be this track. Still… wonders never cease.
