i've quite of kinda hearing these musical terms so much recently, especially when reading some reviews.

So what i know about them is that Harmonic is about harmonies and layering of music, Rhythmic is about beats and Melodic is about melodies and tones(?)

How do you define them when someone says "this song is too melodic/harmonic/rhythmic"
(can you get my drift )

So what are their differences? Similarities?

Can they go hand on hand on a single piece of music? Can one exist in a song without the other two?

I'd tell you myself but I don't really know ****.

Rhythmic- emphasis on rhythm, percussion, drums.
Melodic- emphasis on melody, the main voice, etc.
Harmony- emphasis harmony, the blending of voices, consonance, dissonance.

If you want a good idea of heavily rhythmic music without much else listen to any trap, if you want melodic listen to Katy & Gaga (pre-ARTPOP), and similarly for harmonic, listen to ABBA.


Think of songs this way (with melodic, harmonic and rhythmic being in each corner).
