I heard on the radio a few days ago that Itunes plans to sell cards with codes that enable you to download all the songs that are supposed to be on an artist’s album. The card will come with artwork, but no CD only the card with the special code. I don’t remember the date they mentioned, but they did say it would be in stores like Best buy, etc.

Anyway, is this really going to happen? If so why haven’t I heard more about it? When I looked it up, I only found that stores were teaming up with labels to destroy this plan, but does anyone have more concrete news on the subject?

Anyway, if it’s true what do you think about this move?

The card you purchase comes with ARTWORK and when you enter the code on itunes it allows you to download the songs to your computer. That way you can upload them onto your Ipod or MP3 or even burn it on a blank CD if you want.

That would suck; I hope they forget about this idea.

Im sure there will be a few shake ups in the industry in the next few years, they are dying fast.

I've always wondered if certifications will ever change? Im sure artists would support this as many major artists appear to flopping in sales with each album when it really due to lower overall sales.

Why would it suck? You'd still get the artwork.

How is this any different from digital cds, would best buy stop selling real cds and instead sell 'codes' that you use in the itunes store to buy that cd? oh wow this is gay, the person who though of this deserves a bitchslap.

It's really stupid........Some people don't own computers and if they threw about cds it would ruin the industry even more then it already is......STILL BRITNEY RULES! AND SHE"S GOING TO KILL THE PLANET!

Terrible plan. I know that if I was a recording artist (haha in my dreams...), I'd feel really accomplished if I could hold my album in my hands, as a physical represenation of hard work, not some stupid card.

Well, people felt the same way about cassettes and records back in the day. All it proves is that we find it hard to let go of the mediums we're used to/grew up with but in time all things end up changing and in the future we'll probably be saying "I want the actual card in my hands, not some stupid hologram"

Actually I understand where this is going now, If the cards with the code can only be played by actually knowing the code, then piracy could probably decrease in number, cds play easily but a card with a code only to be allowed to play is going to be hard oto hack in and get the music.......hmmmmmm, but I still think the idea sucks because most people don't have computers.BRITNEY RULES!

This reminds me of when Industry decided to stop making Cassestes and Make CD's and now there moving from CDS to Cards??? HOW GAY Dont like dis at all

CD's will always be around...

i was starting to think with sells being so damn low now that they would eventually have you buy them online which would suck for the labels and for people who like to buy albums, like me, well my fav acts at least.
