It's funny to see how artists of today may already influence other artists of today! Or, in another way to observe it, how they open the market's door to the next musical prophet...
Yesterday, I was watching the German's Top Singles in a German Music Channel... and at number 47 this week, here he is... the next Mika... with a attitude that remimds me of Darren Hayes (ex-vocals of Savage Garden) ...and with a music and video that kinda sticks to Nelly Furtado's video "Maneater"...
His name is Darin and the song is called "Insanity"... I have to say that I don't like it ... and it won't have a chance in the american radios, that aren't upfront enough to take Mika's music yet...so this guy would never have a chance!! But, it might have some airplay in the european radios... maybe... (his voice is not great... ... )
It's kinda cool, actually, to see these artists opening doors to other artists... like The Darkness did for Scissor Sisters... then Scissor Sisters did for Mika...and Mika did for this Darin...
Or... Norah Jones did it for Katie Melua...
Or... Blink 182 did it for The American Rejects and Yellowcard ...and so on...
Or.... Britney Spears did for Jessica Simpson... and so on...
Or.... well, you tell me...

Those are 4 unique and individual artists... besides their genre of music, there's little similarities between them.

Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado are too alike IMO. Almost every one of their songs I can hear the other one sing.

Kelly Clarkson and Avril serve bascially the same purpose in the music industry, the "rock" chick/anti-Britney. Avril can sing whereas Kelly has better songs, tough choice. But they are both borrowing from the image P!nk made hers when she was more popular e.g Missundaztood era.

I always feel Beyonce totally stole J-Lo's image and fanbase, but she is probably more talented so no big deal there. But I dont like it when Beyonce gets credited for paving the way for younger rnb artists e.g Rihanna, Ciara, Ashanti etc when it was clearly J-Lo who made pop-r'n'b what it is today.

And finally all of them owe their careers to Madonna, the Queen Bee!!!
