MANILA, Philippines – A father’s love is once again witnessed when a man named Marlon de Leon sneaks his dead son’s body out from the hospital morgue and takes it to a charity home for burial assistance.
His son, Kevin, only two years, started suffering from vomiting, diarrhea and high fever beginning last Monday. For lack of money, Marlon could not take him to a hospital. However, on Tuesday, he felt the urgency to take his son for immediate medical attention, so he rushed him to a hospital in Malabon, but it was way too late. His son died of dehydration.
According to Marlon, after performing necessary procedures, the doctors told him that his son cannot be revived anymore. His son’s body was then sent to the morgue.
Fearing that he won’t be able to get his son out of the hospital morgue for financial reasons, Marlon made the decision to flee the hospital with his son’s body wrapped in a red blanket, and seek help from a charity home in Tondo, to get a decent burial for his son.
However, someone from the charity home told him that he could not be helped at that time, and to return the following day.
The desperate dad opted to wait outside the gates of the charity home, until the following day. He was later noticed by some residents who gave him something to eat and drink, while sharing their sympathies on the passing of his very young son.
Eventually, help did arrive in the form of a proper burial for his son. As of this writing, Marlon’s son, Kevin has now been laid to rest at the Manila North Cemetery.
The city government of Manila shouldered the burial expenses.
