A bit of a try-hard version, to be honest, but I loved the arrangement. You can't really top Lorde's version, though, so that wasn't shade towards Jason. Very few people could have done it better.

Poor song got covered by vocal disasters like Selena Gomez and now him.

He has a nice voice tone and even power in his voice but he has a terrible singing technic no legato only staccato.

The great arrangement and Derulo's effort makes this actually listenable. Much better than the horrid original song.

Ugh, he changed the line to "king bee." Why would you even do that? Ugh. That's almost as bad as when Joss Stone covered "Fell in Love With A Girl" but changed it to "Fell in Love With A Boy" because heaven forbid people think she's *gasp* a lesbian.

Anyway, this is marginally more listenable than the original because he's a better singer, but no singer, no matter how good, could overcome the many issues with "Royals" and actually turn it into a decent song.

I stan for him and I can even say I'm not into it.

No one can touch the queen's flawless original. But he tried. I don't dislike Jason but this just doesn't suit him at all.
