WWE's Benoit family deaths confirmed murder-suicide
In tragic news out of Atlanta, Ga., Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel were all found dead in their homes today.
WWE Raw will be a tribute to Benoit. All previous plans for Raw have been scraped.
Daniel was their only child together. He was about seven years old. Says one friend: "Chris and Nancy were known to have a volatile relationship, but their son was the saving grace for both of them."
Benoit has another son from his previous marriage who is in Canada at this time.
We will continue to update the story.

I'm just shocked right now, he was always one of my favorite wrestlers and was always great at what he did. This is a big loss.

Holy ****, I was just praising him yesterday for his great wrestling. This is sad news, and whoeer did this should die. Because if you kill a whole family, you're retarded. RIP

He went home the night before for a family emergancy and ends up dead...just wow

wow. i haven't watched WWE in a while (like 5 years) but I remember Benoit. Man. This is terrible news. RIP. And his wife and son. Tragic.

Just to make things clear, Benoit was NOT shot. Police reported that he was not shot. The night before his family was coughing up blood so he went back to Atlanta to check up on them, making it seem like that's how it happened

yeah, so...i haven't posted here in forever but this just came out of nowhere and i was hoping that somebody would have mentioned it.
a friend of mine actually got a chance to meet Benoit once. she met him at a restaurant. WWE (WWF at the time) was in town and she saw him walk in with a couple other wrestlers. she didn't want to impose but she really wanted to say hi. eventually she went over and did so, and she said that he was one of the nicest guys she ever met. later she sent a beer over to the table, and Benoit actually thanked her by inviting her over to have a drink with him and his friends.
i never got a chance to see Benoit wrestle live or meet him personally. but as a fan of professional wrestling for several years now, i can say without a shadow of a doubt that he was one of the best. certainly passionate about the business, his career, and the principle of respect, Benoit simply seemed like the kind of guy that real men could aspire to be. he was tough, he was strong, but still able to show emotion. he honored respect above all else, and gave that respect to all who were willing to share it in return.
the world of professional wrestling...scratch that, the world, has lost a good man. whatever results are revealed about this shocking situation, in my mind, it cannot negate an entire lifetime. Benoit lived his life honorably. and while it may or may not have ended the same way, in the loss of a great man it is his life that we must strive to remember; not his death.
Benoit, i hope you and Eddie are sharing a laugh somewhere up there. rest in peace, man.

Pope said the bodies were discovered about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

Press Conference Notes On the Benoit family death!
According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.
Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.
Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.
At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.
WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.
The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.
WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

I know and it's going to be really sad without him, but I really don't think that he killed his wife, son, and himself. I just don't think that he could've done that.

I just cant believe he would kill his wife and seven-year old kid.
Yesterday on Raw when they payed tribute to him they were talking about how much he loved his family, so thats very hard to believe that he would kill them.

I know and everytime you would see him with his family, it was just sad because you saw that he loved them so much and you wouldn't think something like this would ever happen. I hope they do find what really happened, but I just hope that this wasn't the ending that we know now.
