Miami Herald: Janet recording new album in Miami

Janet is reportedly in Miami for the next three months recording a new album at Circle House Studios with LA Reid, the Miami Herald's website is reporting:


Janet Jackson Recording New Album in Miami

Janet Jackson and a group of male and female friends--no sign of boyfriend Jermaine Dupri---slipped in the back door of Prive Saturday night for promoter Justin Levine's Empire Events party. Holding court in Prive's hip hop section, Ms. Jackson, clad in head to toe form fitting white pants, shirt and shoes showed off her svelte figure while sipping red wine and grooving to hits by Diddy, Jay-Z and a vintage Jackson 5 remix. Jackson is down here with record exec LA Reid for the next three months recording her new album at Circle House Studios. Boyfriend Dupri is also in on the production.

Whether Janet is actually recording a new album has not been officially confirmed, although she had previously suggested in several recent interviews that she would like to do so in the near future.

The status of which record label Janet will sign with also has not yet been officially announced. Jermaine Dupri told MTV.com in May that Janet was in talks with Island Def Jam, which LA Reid is the chairman of, and choreographer Gil Duldulao also had recently said that Janet will be signing a new contract and will start a new project soon.

It's great she's doing another album after 20 y.o. flopped. I mean, it's a great album, but I couldn't see any songs becoming hit singles.

her last album was a fiasco so she mustn't let it be like 20. Y.O.

Janet's career has been nosediving for 5 years now. "All for You" had some great singles but had way too much filler. "Damita Jo" and "20 Y.O." were both boring and gratuitous, nothing on either of them captured anyone's attention. Janet has lost her touch--let's hope the next album gets her back on track. Maybe she should take a page out of Madonna's book and actually try something new for once. Sure, Madonna is and never will be as popular with teenagers as she was during her heyday, but she is still relevant at least and every teenager is at least familiar with "Hung Up" and "Music". C'mon on Janet, stop wasting your time and ours (and money too!) and make some good music.

After the mediocrity that was called 20.Y.O and her dumb choices like **** On Me being first single. I'm officially done with Janet Jackson.

Janet is ****ed up in her mind. I mean she didn't even release a third single until now ,and she didn't even bother to promote the album as everybody does. Why would she record a new one? I think she's either trying to release as many albums as she can until she gets a Mariah luck ,or maybe she thinks ending her career with non-stop flops will make her look "special".

lets hope that we can all understand what she is "singing" on this album.....

so true, so true. she whispers rather than sings and all of her songs sound completely incoherent (on Damita Jo and 20 Y.O.). and why the hell do all of her songs sound like you're calling into a perverted, hardcore sex hotline? the woman needs to get a little class. The janet from 20 years ago was more mature than the janet today.

what the heck do you mean "source?". First of all, "All for You" sold 3 million, "Damita Jo" sold 1 million, "20 Y.O," sold 640,000. You notice the sharp decline? Second of all, Madonna's "Music" hit #1 in over 30 countries (including the US) and "Hung Up" reached #1 in over 40. Janet's single "Just a Little While" is the only single of hers to hit #1 over the last 6 years (and it only made #1 in Japan). More people in my high school were capable of singing the hook from either of those Madonna songs I mentioned...all of the songs from Janet's latest cd's are completely unmemorable. Madonna continues to be a major seller and her videos are still in heavy rotation worldwide (with 2 of them even making it to #1 on TRL over the last 2 years). Thirdly, Madonna evolves with her music by adapting to new themes, sounds, styles, and formats. Janet continues to release heavy-breathing, overtly erotic, interlude and filler-stuffed albums without doing anything remotely different each time. Her last 3 albums were carbon copies of each other--it's a fact!! I hope Janet's next cd is actually interesting for once.

Most of those problems are mostly because of Virgin Records. We all know Virgin records is like one of the worst record labels out there right now. It has like the worse promotion ever!! Look at that flop group RBD (Well at least here in America). She's most likely leaving Virgin and going to Island Def Jam. So hopefully her next album will be a success.

Now about her albums all about sex and stuff, I think she's just going through a phase in her life where she just wants to stay young and stuff. Hopefully it won't appear in this next album!

That had nothing to do with Janet virgin records and EMI were being sold by Warner brothers music . So everybody account was being frozen that's why nobody on virgin hasn't released any material lately. This buy out went for about a year. Anyway that's why they didn't release a third single. Nobody had a budget.
Anyway I am glad that she's offically not on virgin no more. She's now signed to Island/defjam . She's going to release more singles and more promtion for this project.

I'm upset that "So Excited" didn't do better, because it's one of my favorite songs.
