How do you friend zone someone in a nice way?

I just want to be friends with a guy who obviously wants more but I don't feel attracted to him at all. I think I hurt his feelings when I said I just wanted to be friends. I think he is lovely but is there any way to make him feel like I don't hate him? I feel horrible! He had the biggest crush on me.

Let him know now that you aren't interested in him in a dating way and do not want to be anything other then friends and that's it. Be clear about it. He'll be upset but it's better then leading him on for a long time and letting his crush on you get bigger and bigger which would make everything worse. Stop it before it gets too bad and he'll be able to move on easier. It always sucks having to let down somebody who is nice, that's just the way it is. If you scoot around the subject because you feel bad he might think he still has a chance.
