Why do many ATRL members live vicariously through...
celebrites? Nothing wrong with admiration, but I am talking about real stans who worship their fave by defending them too much, gather information about them so they can post on a forum(in order to get approval), promoting them and the list goes on. It is as if they are living through them, as if they are their fave. I find that creepy and really sad when I reflect about it. Especially when their face doesnt even acknowledge them.
Whats your take on it?

I mean, as long as your living your own life, going to school/college/work and having a social life, what you post on ATRL and other sites about your fave during your free time at home doesn't really matter
However, the people who are unemployed/out of education and just sit around "dragging", "shading" and praising their fav all day need to get out more

I CO-SIGN this 100 % I have a job & a license I can stan if I want to. But I don't. I think it's kind dumb at times.

A false sense of accomplishment. Their lives may lack any significance, so they live vicariously through other people, like you said.
A sense of belonging is crucial to the human soul, whether it be to a community, a family, or a fan-base, and then I think people just get sucked into all the things that naturally come with "stanning" - such as support & being defensive/protective of ones "own", so to speak.
Some of these people are so much more than pop-stars, for some, they're figures of power, sources of inspiration, or vessels of self-expression. In retrospect, star-worship is a bit of a shallow ordeal, but it's there, and it fills the void some people have.
I don't think there's anything wrong with supporting an artist, I just don't understand why people care so much for chart success or numbers or sales - You aren't seeing any of that money. Just enjoy the music. And for those who promote on behalf of an artist (especially those with record deals), congrats on willing yourself to be raped, used, abused and spat on by Million-dollar recording labels, global industries, and old, fat, men who thanks to you, can earn thousands without needing to lift a finger.

The only ones that worry me are the ones who are literally only on here to drag a particular artist they don't like. So much time can be spent doing something else.

This tbh, a lot of people take ATRL way too seriously.
What I post here, I do in my free time. It's all in good fun.

But hew cares?
We all love music, what's wrong with supporting our favorite artist?
Doesn't mean we don't have a social life lol ...

I like to lower my standards when I log into on ATRL, so I succumb into this big whirl of dragging and stanning, but in the real world it's all different. It's all about not taking anything seriously, either comments you can post here or either what others might say about you in here

I shade because it's fun, but the ones who go overboard with defending like I shaded them

Why do people root for and follow their favorite sports teams.

It can go a bit too far sometimes, but I try not to judge people. You never know what someone is going through and it could be a way for them to escape. Especially when it comes from a place of love or admiration for an artist. It's escapism, as someone already said.

I agree with you. I find stanning pretty dumb tbh. Casual fans is what most people should be aiming for.
And just because some people go ape s**t crazy over football or any other sports, doesn't mean it's ok. It's just as sad.

Right? I've noticed that the members of ATRL, more than any other music forum, live vicariously through other artists and it's a bit sad.
Some of these members take stanning so seriously that they're willing to "jump" from artist to artist and cling to whoever's currently on top just so they can brag about their success. It comes to the question: are you even enjoying the music? Or are you just using an artist's success to make you feel better about yourself?
But hey, do you.

They don't have much of a life themselves and I say that in the nicest way possible. They want to pretend that they're the successful one, they're the popular one, they're the one on top. When their fave does well it makes them feel like they're doing well. Like they have some type of power over everybody else when in reality it has jack **** to do with them. It's really weird when they become obsessed with an artist they hate and do everything they can to see them fail and get actual joy when they do. Being obsessed with somebody you like is one thing, being obsessed with somebody you dislike is another thing entirely. I dislike Gaga on here but in real life I listen to her music all the time and never say anything bad about her because it doesn't really matter. Your stanning (esp. for people you do not like) shouldn't cross over into your real life.
