Nintendo focuses on being an experience. Sony focus on being traditional.

X-Box focuses on neither which is why it's not doing as well.

But nintendo jumped on the touchscreen bandwagon too...

...Nintendo INVENTED that bandwagon with DS. Then Apple followed suit, then the other girls and tablets. The rest is history. Nintendo popularized/invented many ideas that are now the norm yet they never get the credit

Apple already had a touch-tablet with the Newton in the 90's that was very well known.
In the early 2000's they started working on a color version which then spawned the iPad (and the iPhone and iPod before it).
The Newton used an OS really similar to what Android and iOS look like today. I think the only thing Nintendo did was show people what you could do with a touchscreen in gaming, but they hardly invented the "bandwagon" because touchscreen tablets were already around, hence Windows XP tablet edition being released.
