Nobody is upset that Beyoncé outdid Britney's Circus Tour; Britney has never been a strong tourer and since the boom of the touring market has done absolutely 0 promo for her tours.

As for "clinging to the past," why can't we bring up Britney's influence/success? At least we bring up actual influence/success compared to every other stanbase.

Uh. Not at all actually.

The simple answer is the past is all they have in regards to bragging about anything of any substance, and since ATRL is primarily a space where you go about bragging about your fave as much as you can while simultaneously shading other artists, that is ultimately what we see.

Because I'll be honest, there's nothing but nothing to brag about this current Britney (sans that she looks good and she's more involved into the music), I mean her singles are flopping, the album will have the same faith and won't go into the performance skills so in order of not being dragged by other stanbases they will bring those old receipts. Kind of sad but truth.

I can't speak for the fanbase, but I only sometimes shade Beyonce if her stans are trying it with Britney.

Britney's influence and legacy didn't just stop after Circus. "Scream & Shout" was a huge global smash, "Till the World Ends" was a pretty big hit, "Hold It Against Me" spearheaded dubstep in popular music, Femme Fatale added a bit less than 2 million WW sales to her total, "Work B**ch" was the return of her dancing and a great video if only a minor hit WW, "Perfume" is the return of her singing, etc. All of this was achieved with minimal to 0 promo. She's done GMA twice, the VMAs once, two guest spots at the BBMAs in the same night and three songs one night at Jimmy Kimmel for televised performances in the U.S. since like 2005, yet still continues to add on to her legacy because her recorded material is solid. Why shouldn't we be proud?

A receipt is a receipt. All the other jealous fanbases just like to say we cling to the past because their faves have nothing on Britney's career. Sad.
