Matt Cardle has responded to James Arthur's claim that previous male X Factor winners haven't been able to sell albums.
The pair have been feuding for almost a year since Arthur claimed that previous victors "haven't made great albums" and "haven't sold records".
Cardle sold 70,896 copies of his debut album Letters the first week it was released in 2011, compared to Arthur's 63,996 for his self-titled LP.
"Well, there you go," Cardle told Digital Spy. "Having slagged me and my career off for a year now, the numbers are in and they speak for themselves.
"For some reason, he has repeatedly tried to humiliate me publicly and cement the perception that I have failed, but I've just celebrated the release of my third top 20 album in as many years, two of which I released independently. I'm proud of what I've achieved."
He added: "Like I initially said 12 months ago, I wish him well, I think he is talented and I hope he is still around in 3 years time."
Arthur has previously said that Cardle's music is for "bedwetters" and would make his fans "fall asleep".
Meanwhile, Cardle whose latest independently-released album Porcelain entered the charts at 11 last month - responded by labelling him "deeply unpleasant", adding: "The guy's ego is off the scale and that's all I'll say about him."
Well well well Quasimodo. Who look like a dumbass now
I guess I was right when I wanted Jahmené Douglas to win. At least he would have been serving gospel to our ears all day long. and give low-key shade to Miss Katy Perry
This is so embarassing for James after shading the previous winners And Matt is so humble, he could now easily drag him for filth but he's focused on music while the other one will fall into oblivion in a few months
I am not a big fan of both of them, even though they have some nice songs, but isn't that a bit of an odd comparison, especially since first week sales has to do with loads of factors and even the time it is released in.
