Nintendo says Wii U will increase sales when PS4/XBOX come.
I mean i cant agree with the crazy coming from Iwata.

If you are the CEO of a company, you need to remain positive and optimistic regardless of how bad business has been lately. And while Nintendo may be doing fine with its handheld gaming business, the home console market is another story completely and the Wii U just isn’t selling.Still, Satoru Iwata is upbeat, even in the face of brand new competition. In fact, he sees the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One as beneficial for his company’s games console.
Most people would see two new, more powerful consoles coming to market as really bad news for the Wii U, but not Iwata. He is taking the view that the added competition and marketing surrounding the new machines will just bring more attention to the games industry as a whole. I agree with him on that point, but he also thinks that the competition will make Nintendo and Wii U stand out for its “unique value” and “family oriented titles.”
It’s true that the Wii U has a focus on games for younger audiences and the family as a whole, but I can’t see how the PS4 and Xbox One launching will suddenly make parents and kids realize what they have been missing by not purchasing a Wii U.
I don’t hear anyone comparing the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U pre-launch. Gamers are thinking about PS4 or Xbox One. That’s the choice to be made. Nintendo is also confusing matters this holiday season by choosing to launch the Wii Mini in the US. As well as being $200 cheaper than a Wii U, it doesn’t offer access to downloadable games or streaming entertainment. If you want gamers to choose the technically cheapest next-gen console, you don’t launch a $99 console that ultimately competes with it for space under the tree this Christmas.
Ultimately, Nintendo believes that the Wii U is targeted at a very different audience than the competition. But while that may be true, it has been targeted and promoted to that audience for almost a year now, and sales remain surprisingly low. New games will help, but it’s already looking like the Wii U is set for third place in the soon to be new current-gen console market.
