Neither have released new albums in 2013. Are we gearing up for a Katy vs Gaga type situation in 2014 or will they release far enough apart where there won't be any conflict
As they're two of my faves I'd kind of prefer if they dominated different halves of the year (preferably Bey with the first half, since I'm tired of waiting and I want a November release for R8).
Although the stan wars on here would be everything, so perhaps I am here for it. If they deliver solid albums I don't really care who sells more.

But I wish Beyonce started her era with the Superbowl. She most likely (90% chance) would have had a much more successful era compared to all the other major pop girls last eras.

If that's true I think first week album sales can be quite even by the two.
Beyonce is smart enough to not go against Rihanna and she'll release the furthest sha can. I mean, that's exactly why she didn't release this year with all this competition.
