Time to begin fixing the problems that made AI6 rather dull and lifeless for much of the season (...to me, anyways)

What would you do to make Season 7 a better experience?

Firstly, ditch the mentors and the Fergies and Thickes. Bon Jovi and Tony Bennet and JLo and Diana Ross and Lulu can stay cuz they actually helped the contestants but did we need What Gwen Likes Today week with her disenchantedness? And really, what does Pink have to do with Disco to be edited there rather than back on IGB?

Secondly, remember we want to care about the contestants. We know Blake beatboxes, Jordin is 17 and LaKisha has a kid. Melinda did backup, Phil spins anything to be patriotic and Haley has legs. Can we return to S1-3 where we sorta knew **** about the finalists? That makes us care and vote and want success!

Thirdly...I want dancers! Starting at F4, have them do full songs with no ties to themes. Let them do songs they would do for an album. If they want dancers, a gospel choir, a small band, pyro, let them! Let's see how they want their careers to be, it will entice the casual viewers a hell of a lot more.

Fourthly, videos. No, not the Ford video. Have them for one week do a song AND a music video. Let the videos show on Monday and have them call and the video with the most votes gets to be on MTV. It shows people what they want their style to be and gives people a clue what to expect.

Finally...fire Randy. When PAULA is the most coherent and critical of contestants we have a problem. And while Randy normally pimps his faves, his Jordin push was way beyond obnoxious. Either make him more S1 while giving him a dictonary and thesarus or can him. Oh, and the judges CANNOT go to rehersals, they must see the perf live during the show and only critique that.

And you?

In some ways, I feel:
--Drop the sexism. It doesn't/shouldn't have to be strictly 6 guys and 6 girls for a final 12. Let's have more talent flow through, even if it winds up being a 3 guy+9 girl top 12. (or vice versa in any direction)

--A twist or two wouldn't hurt in the actual competition/elimination process.

I just want the people/contestants, just like in Season 5. Funny, good-looking, marketable. I just love and prefer the young contestants to the older ones, although the older ones might be more talented and stuffs.

the finale this year is so low budgeted they remove the following
1. choir in finale song
2. the idol hometown crowd with live coverage
3. the fireworks mmmmm hahahahah

That would be awesome, but since it's probably more costly, I doubt we'll see something so elaborate.

Oh, and for the love of God...don't let the winner's song be a complete pile of ****. I mean, save for "A Moment Like This" and possibly "I Believe" they've all been horrible, but "This Is My Now" takes the crown being worse than all the others so far.

It's sad that the best season yet could've been even better if they had done some things differently.

I also think restricting contestants with genre themes is a bad idea. Their personal choices usually result in more enjoyable performances. Themes like a decade, year you were born, Billboard charts etc. are more fun. Also I would've liked to see more recent songs, I think most of what we heard this season was from before the 90s.

Celebrity mentors were a waste of time. Let's see some more interviews with friends and family and the contestants themselves, footage from back home, from their past, etc. Let them come to life on the show, don't force people to look for their personalities on forums.

Let them play instruments like on Australian Idol. It's not an unfair advantage, people still won't vote for you if the performance is bad.

More Hollywood episodes. Let's get to know all of these people before we start voting them off. Don't focus on one or two people for too long. Don't focus too much on those that didn't make the top 24.
