Drake previewed Trophies, produced by Hit-Boy which was intended to be on Nothing Was The Same. The instrumental can also be heard in the trailer for Nothing Was the Same.
But why didn’t it made it onto Nothing Was The Same?
Quote:
“I wouldn’t even call it a leftover. It was definitely on the album,” Drake said of the Hit-Boy-produced song. “I’m not a just-throw-it-together-kinda guy.”
He had recorded two hooks for the song, but didn’t like either. So he started sending it out, but still wasn’t satisfied with the results.
He plans to finish Trophies and drop it along with more unreleased material including music from the posthumous Aaliyah album, a song with YG, and the remix to Wu-Tang Forever.
It has been confirmed that Drake will be releasing a selection of brand new tracks before 2013 is over.
The Toronto rapper is said to be releasing "4-5 tracks in one night before 2014", according to hip hop website XclusivesZone. The tracks are said to include the brass-heavy, Hit-Boy-produced 'Trophies', which was premiered at a recent Drake show, and the much-anticipated Wu-Tang Clan remix of Nothing Was the Same track 'Wu-Tang Forever', which will reportedly feature verses from members of the iconic hip hop collective.
