Utada Hikaru (24), vastly known in the world of Japanese music as having the highest selling album ever in Japanese history has broken yet another prestigious record. Her latest single, “Flavor of Life”, not only held #1 for 3 consecutive weeks on the Oricon charts (something last done by Ayumi Hamasaki back in 2002 with the single “Voyage”), but also now holds the title as the highest selling Japanese download single of all time. As of April 2007, it has had 5,580,000 downloads, which can be combined with the 720,000 physical CD copies shipped out for a total of 6,300,000 in unit sales. “Flavor of Life -Ballad Version-” was used as the insert song for the highly popular drama “Hana Yori Dango 2″. It was her first drama tie-in since 2002’s “SAKURA Drops”.
