I don't really think so though. I think a lot of people download an artists single just because they like the singer but not necessarily like the song. Most people didn't really like Gwen's "Wind It Up" but bought it anyway just because it was the 1st single and people were just eager to hear from her after being gone for a while. In many cases, I think most people don't sample a song or actually hear the song before they buy it. Another example would be Beyonce's "Ring The Alarm" which debuted high mainly because people just wanted to hear more from Beyonce and "B'day" wasn't out yet, but it flopped at radio and the single's sales plummeted fast. Songs that have longevity on iTunes top 10 tend to represent the songs that people really like (i.e. Girlfriend, Don't Matter, Glamorous, The Sweet Escape etc.), but songs that debut high and sink fast are usually just novelty songs that people buy to support the singer but don't really like.
