What you mentioned isn't even what term limits are. Term limits is where they CANNOT run after a certain number of years.

You can probably stretch what US politicians do into corruption.... but it is a major stretch.
Politicians play the game as it is set up. Until we change the way elections occur nothing will change. Right now we have a winner takes all system which guarantees a two party system. The two party system and its primaries, combined with the fact that many congressional districts are not competitive, work together to make it so many rep's are not worried about losing to the other side in elections...... and are free to be ideologues since they are more worried about getting challenged in the primaries than in the general election.
