Celeb News: Britney dines with friends, alcohol becomes an issue

The group of 8 went to dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, near L.A. We're told before Britney arrived, a few people in the group ordered drinks at the bar. They all then went to their table in the restaurant, leaving the drinks behind.

Here's the deal ... Britney -- who once had a serious drinking issue that caused the custody judge to order her to undergo random testing -- has laid down the law with friends -- no one drinks when she's at the table. Someone who was there tells TMZ ... a waitress came by and brought a glass of wine that one of the women had been drinking, and apparently the woman knew the drill and said the waitress was mistaken -- she wasn't drinking wine.

Apparently ... it was too much for at least one of the people to take. We're told once Britney left ... one of the guys at the table made a beeline for the bar, ordered 3 vodkas in rapid succession and got kinda wasted.

She CHOOSES not to drink because she knows it led to problems for her in the past. She doesn't live the lifestyle she used to as a CHOICE because of her boys. That should be commended. Drinking won't solve her problems or loosen her up, it'll probably start a downward slide that she doesn't want to down. Plus she's on medication and adding alcohol to the mix is not a good thing.

I don't think she was ever an alcoholic. She never showed any of the signs. Hell as faded as she was during that time where she was driving around town everywhere she never even got a DUI. I think it's more of a ''she cant drink because she's on medication'' type thing assuming this story is true.

She wasn't an alcoholic (that's not stated here, nor ever been stated officially), but she did drink a lot. And while drinking may interfere with anything she takes, I do believe she stands strongly behind living a life away from the substances she abused throughout 2007.

Some of y'all need to respect her lifestyle. Britney already went through her clubbing, partying and drinking phase during the ITZ era. She's over that now and is a mother of two young boys.

I don't think so either. Her phase was most likely a post partum depression thing and she used alcohol as an escape.

That's just plain stupid, If I am not drinking I do not need the people around me to do the same and prevent them from having a good time. Personally that's her own issue and if she is on meds then she needs to take care of it herself in a private matter and not include others. She really shouldn't prevent others to live their normal daily lives just because of her own issues.
