Whether you've wrangled dozens of Charmanders or couldn't pick a Pikachu out of a Safari Zone lineup, Pokémon X/Y is hands-down the best in the series.
Despite the nagging feeling that something's missing, Pokémon X and Y make some huge leaps forward for both the competitive and casual crowds. I just wish these games felt as complete as their predecessors.
X & Y continues this trend [of being a flawless franchise] perfectly, and is sure to sell plenty of 3DS – and 2DS – systems this Christmas. Make sure you get it for yours.
The game reached nearly 400,000 pre-orders in the US. Day 1 sales have set a 3DS record hitting 5.5 million units. This is also the biggest opening for an exclusive in 2013 and the second biggest opening overall all this year. It was only beaten out by Grand Theft Auto V which sold 17.5 million units in its opening week. However, this was across two platforms.
