Drake has spoken out about scrapping plans to release a new Aaliyah album.
The musician announced last year that he was executive producing a new record using the late singer's vocals, but he has since confirmed that he is no longer involved with the project.
Drake suggested that public and media backlash to his announcement played a part, explaining that a posthumous album could still be released by others who had been working on the record.
"Before things went downhill with it, I was actually working with my dream collaboration," he said in a MySpace interview.
"Me and [producer] 40 were working on this Aaliyah album that kind of got blown out of proportion. There are records with me and Aaliyah that no one has ever heard and they're really good. I think the press got out of hand."
Drake continued: "They maybe just had a different vision for it. I'm not sure. It was sounding great to me. Whatever they end up doing with it, I wish them the best of luck. There might be a record with me on there. I'm not sure." (source)
