Adele to play Dusty Springfield
Quote:
Adele has reportedly been asked to play Dusty Springfield in a forthcoming film about the life of the late soul singer.
According to the Daily Star, Adele is attached to star in the biopic, which will be set in the late '60s when Springfield travelled to America to record her classic album 'Dusty In Memphis'.
The film is said to be "in the early stages of development" but shooting could start as soon as early next year (2014). The script is being written by David Stenn, who is known for his work on Boardwalk Empire and The L Word.
Adele won an Oscar earlier this year for her Bond theme 'Skyfall' but her acting experience is limited to a guest appearance on Ugly Betty in 2009 when she played herself. However, it has recently been reported that she is being lined up to ]make a cameo in The Secret Service, a forthcoming British spy film from the director of Kick-Ass.
Adele has previously spoken about her admiration for Springfield, saying the late singer "put English women on the map, which I love". Springfield, who released 14 studio albums between 1964 and 1995, passed away in 1999 following a battle with breast cancer.
