Finally, it looks as if 2007 will be SMG's year. She has 4 upcoming movies completed and one in production!
After Buffy she hit a bit of a slow patch. But in 2004 came "The Grudge" which grossed $110 Million in just the US. She obviously carried the flick which featured little other star power and it was huge!
Last year she showed up in the spotlight a little bit with her small role in "The Grudge 2." She was pretty much the only cast memeber to even promote it though. Then came drama/thriller "The Return" in which she starred and was the only big name. But no promotion at all helped it gross under $10 Million.
Now I believe this year will be her year.
She already lended her voice to moderately successful "Happily Never After." Her voice is also being given to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie as April.
I hear she's getting '08 Oscar Buzz for her starring role in star-filled drama "The Air I Breathe" which is set to be released this year. A romantic comedy entitled "Suburban Girl" will be another starring role for her this year. Then she also has a film coming by the end of the year called "Addicted" which is another Japanese influenced Thriller. Then by next year I'm sure "Alice" will be out, she will play the title role to the video-game based thriller.
The star-packed flick "Southland Tales," which hit film festivals last year is also rumored to be getting a wide release this year! In this comedy SMG plays an **** star/singer/entrepreneur.
I'm excited, she's been getting that underrated vibe for quite a while now! It's also nice to see her back away from horror a bit, though I love all her movies.
So lined up is... (Bold are completed)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Air I Breathe
Southland Tales
Suburban Girl
Addicted
Alice
Glad that she is coming back with movies but it doesn't mean that it'll be her year in film. There's other well known actors and actress that are coming back with big films. Some like Natalie Portman that will be in up to 5 movies this year.
idn, It's just a lot fo these movies were getting early buzz.
"The Air I Breathe" is apparently this big ensemble movie that's expected to win a lot of awards. And it appears Sarah is the lead female. It's what I'm mos excited about.
"Addicted" looks like, if promoted right, it could have just as much success as "The Grudge." And then "Suburban Girl" is her first romantic comedy in years, and it's based off a book, not of the same name though, but that's why it already has buzz on it in movie forums. Plus if you've seen Buffy you know sarcastic comedy is Sarah's forte.
I'm hope it's Sarah's year. I could care less about Natalie Portman though (I think she's overrated.)
Well i highly doubt an actress like Sarah Michelle Gellar will ever have a big impact in the film industry (lack of skill) but I'm actually glad that her and her husband are still doing well. Sucks what happened with Reese Witherspoon.
God damn Gellar, make something like Cruel Intentions again! Do something fun and play a bitch!
I love her but she seems to shy away from more mainstream roles since Scooby Doo (ruined her post Buffy hype), which is too bad. She's into being a serious actress and little films and not into just being famous. That's a good thing but some fun, mainstream movies will do her good!
