Soulcalibur: Lost Swords will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive free-to-play game in the vein of Tekken Revolution. Although similar to other F2P titles, the game will be "time-limited" where players must purchase tokens in order to continue playing the game beyond its initial demo hours. Lost Swords is single player and the focus is completing missions, it will most likely be a slightly modified version of Soulcalibur V.

Namco Bandai's new free-to-play, single-player tale of souls/swords SoulCalibur: Lost Swords is expected to launch on the PlayStation Network sometime this winter, the company announced at a private pre-TGS event earlier this week. The game also marks classic Athenian warrior Sophitia's return to the stage of history, after being killed off between SoulCaliburs 4 and 5.
So far, Mitsurugi and Siegfried are the only other confirmed characters, but we figure that won't be the case for long. Producer Masaaki Hoshino could not speak to how exactly the game will be monetized, though he was able to clarify that Lost Swords runs on "the next iteration" of the SoulCalibur 5 engine. "The game system itself is quite different, it's been more streamlined and simplified so that people can more easily perform flashy, over-the-top maneuvers," Hoshino told us through a translator.
With the official launch of the SOULCALIBUR Lost Swords website yesterday, Namco-Bandai has also released a whole bunch of character trailers featuring Mitsurugi, Siegfried and Sophitia. These videos showcase each of the three beta-test characters and their movesets in the upcoming free-to-play single-player-only title.
As a reminder, these is a Japan only beta-test (re: demo) coming out on PSN tomorrow. If you want to try the game out before it arrives in America, it would be very easy to create a Japanese PSN account and download it. Thankfully, @Party Wolf put together a small video showing those who haven't already created a PSN account years ago for previous Japan-only Soulcalibur content. *

Hmmm. I don't know about this yet. If so, they need to put Setsuka, Talim, Yung Seong, etc. I don't see all of them but maybe it could make up the mess they tried pulling in SC5.

Yes! I'm excited for them all to come.. It just really sucks they aren't gonna make much off of this because it's ps3 exclusive.. I guess they don't realize that they get most of their sales from xbox...
