this is probably a dumb question but i am so confused
are university and college the same thing? no one really speaks of "college" in australia but i went to a university today and found out they have colleges inside of it... wtf. on the internet heaps of people talk about college life and stuff but barely speaks of univeristy. so help
In the United States, "college" formally refers to a constituent part of a university, although in Ireland and in some cases in the US, "college" and "university" are interchangeable, whereas in Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and other former and present Commonwealth nations, "college" may refer to a secondary or high school, a college of further education, a training institution that awards trade qualifications, or a constituent part of a university.
In the UK,No. In the US,Universities are a type of Four year College. However, NOT all Colleges are universities (e.g. Community and Technical Colleges)
No, they're not. Here , college is more focused on the trades and skill; you needs to take different classes than you would for admission in University. In University, you earn your degree in 4 years and the classes are more theory based than application.
In the UK they're technically not the same, however most courses will get you an honours degree at the end of it, which what you achieve on many university courses too, so the end result is pretty much the same.
I'll tell you that I know college is much more schooled than university, from what I know. However, many people people argue college is actually more beneficial than university, since you get an award at the end of each of your 4 years.
