That’s right BBM fans — the iconic mobile social network will begin rolling out for Android and iPhone customers around the world from September 21. Soon, you’ll be able to easily connect with friends on different platforms. As you may know BBM was previously exclusive to BlackBerry smartphones, and it will be available as a free download in Google Play and the App Store.

While some of you are no strangers to BBM, many will be new and might be asking: What is BBM? Below, you’ll find all the highlights for BBM for Android and iPhone.

Availability

BBM will be available as a free download for Android smartphones running Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean (Android 4.x) beginning at 7AM EDT on September 21. BBM for iPhones running iOS 6 and iOS 7 will become available for each market on the App Store schedule of 12:01 AM local time on September 22. I miss BBM, they still reign king when it comes to data-based instant messaging. It blows WhatsApp away. And I've had WhatsApp for 5 years now and never paid. I change my number pretty frequently, so that's probably why..

This is the only thing I dreaded about switching over to the Windows Phone platform... I knew BBM wasn't going to be released anytime soon for it (but it will come). So I'm hoping it flops purely for that reason, so I'm not left out - but I know everyone in my area is going to be switching back to pins ASAP. I feel like everyone I knew had a Blackberry 4-5 years ago, we exchanged pins not phone numbers.

I'm mostly here for BBM because there is no last seen.
Not only my parents are annoying, my friends would know I seen the message and I didn't respond.

It puts a little "R" sign beside read messages, "D" just for delivered... so you know they've seen/opened the message at least once. You don't know when though, or how frequently they're checking BBM.
