Music Industry Stars Weigh in on the Grammys.
CBS) NEW YORK The recording industry's biggest prizes will be handed out during the 49th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 11. CBS will broadcast the ceremony at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
To gear up for the show, we talked with several music industry personalities about what they're looking forward to on Grammys night, and we asked them about their own Grammys-related hopes and wishes.
The Intervieweds people are: Brooke Hogan, Damien Fahey (TRL Host), Brian Litrell (BSB Member), Bo Bice, Radio Chick (Leslie Gold), Jamie Lamm (Radio Host)
If you could spend a night on the town with one of the following nominees, who would it be? Gnarls Barkley, Pink, Pussycat Dolls, Justin Timberlake or Carrie Underwood?
Damien Fahey: Justin Timberlake is the best guest to have on “TRL.” He’s funny, down to earth, and fun to party with.
Brooke Hogan: Pink
Jamie Lamm: Justin Timberlake. He is the man. Girls want him and guys want to be him. I think he is super talented.
Radio Chick: Pink because she knows how to have a good time. I would rather wash my hair than go out with Carrie Underwood.
Who do you think has the best shot to win best album?
The nominees are Gnarls Barkley, Mary J. Blige, James Blunt, Dixie Chicks and Corinne Bailey Rae.
Bo Bice: I love me them Dixie girls. I’ve been a fan of the Dixie Chicks for a while. I really like their album and I think they have a good shot.
Brooke Hogan: It’s a toss up between Mary J. Blige and the Dixie Chicks.
Brian Littrell: James Blunt because he’s had a huge impact in the market place, but I also think the Dixie Chicks have a great shot to win too. I’ve always been a big fan of the Dixie Chicks.
Damien Fahey: Mary J. Blige. Mary J. is never afraid to show her vulnerability. I think the reason I love Mary J. so much is that she isn’t afraid to base her songs on her personal life and use those songs as therapy to overcome those issues.
Jamie Lamm: Gnarls Barkley. He had the best song I’ve heard. I don’t know if he’ll win but I would definitely vote for him.
Radio Chick: Mary J. Blige. This is her year. She went from street thug to being regal. All of her albums give insight into her life’s journey.
Who are you excited to see perform at the Grammys this year?
Bo Bice: The Police are getting back together so I am really stoked about that. And John Mayer will be really great too, I'm sure.
Brian Littrell: Sting. The Backstreet Boys performed with Sting a while ago, he’s a wonderful guy.
Damien Fahey: The Police are the band I always used to say I would love to see get back together over any other dead or broken-up bands. I'm so pumped to see Stewart Copeland on drums. If you listen to Foo Fighters or Incubus or Dave Matthews Band, you hear Stewart’s influence in all those drummers.
Radio Chick: Very excited about The Police. I didn't think it was going to happen.
Of the nominees for best female pop performance, who would you most like to sing a duet with?
The nominees are Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Pink and KT Tunstall.
Bo Bice: Sheryl Crow or KT Tunstall, I think they are both very talented ladies and they are not hard to look at either.
Brooke Hogan: Pink. She’s awesome. I love that she speaks her mind.
Brian Littrell: That’s a toss up between two for me, and here’s why. First I’d choose Pink. I really like her voice. She has a very nontraditional voice. The second choice would be Sheryl Crow. I’ve really enjoyed her career. She’s been around a long time and she’s tried different genres of music from pop to country.
Of the nominees for best male pop performance, who would you most like to sing a duet with?
The nominees are James Blunt, John Legend, John Mayer, Paul McCartney and Daniel Powter.
Bo Bice: John Mayer has come so far since running through the halls of his high school, and when he reunited with his band for the new album it was like the rebirth of guitar rock at its finest. John Mayer Trio to me is one of the greatest acts out there right now and I can’t wait to see them this year on tour.
Brooke Hogan: Paul McCartney, hands down.
Brian Littrell: The deck is really stacked in this category, but I’m going to have to say Paul McCartney. He has never lost a step.
Who are you looking forward to seeing on the red carpet at the Grammys?
Brooke Hogan: Definitely, Stevie Wonder, if he is there. Also the Simpson girls (Jessica and Ashlee), and J.Lo I think she's cool.
Jamie Lamm: J.T. (Justin Timberlake) I love him. KT Tunstall, and Pink - she always dresses fun.
Radio Chick: Pink; she has great style. The Pussycat Dolls and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are always fun on the red carpet.
Of the nominees for song of the year, which are you most likely to be singing in the shower?
The nominees are: "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige, "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood, "Not Ready To Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks, "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae, and "Your Beautiful" by James Blunt.
Brian Littrell: I sing everything in the shower. I would say all of the above, but if I had to pick one it would be “Jesus Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. It’s a little out of my range but I like that song, I like the message.
Jamie Lamm: “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt
Radio Chick: “Put your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae
Brooke Hogan: "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige
Of the nominees for best performance by group or duo, what’s in your iPod?
The nominees are "My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas, " I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie, "Over My Head (Cable Car)" by The Fray, "Is It Any Wonder?" by Keane, and "Stickwitu" by The Pussycat Dolls.
Brooke Hogan:Pussycat Dolls
Brian Littrell: "My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas and "Over My Head" by The Fray.
Damien Fahey: “Over My Head,” The Fray. This guy’s voice is the best out there in pop/rock right now. I also think this is one of the best melodies we heard in 2006.
Jamie Lamm: “I Will Follow You Into The Dark,” Death Cab for Cutie.
Radio Chick: “Stickwitu” by The Pussycat Dolls.
Who do you think is going to take home the best new artist award?
The nominees are James Blunt, Chris Brown, Imogen Heap, Corinne Bailey Rae and Carrie Underwood.
Brooke Hogan: Carrie Underwood
Brian Littrell: James Blunt. He has had a huge impact on music this year. He is a talented singer-songwriter and that’s just what the industry needs.
Damien Fahey: Corinne Bailey Rae - I’d love to see her win. Corinne has a fresh sound and her voice is really unique.
Jamie Lamm: Gnarls Barkley. He had the best song I’ve heard. I don’t know if he’ll win but I would definitely vote for him.
Radio Chick: James Blunt. His song was everywhere.
Who would you like to see reunite at future Grammy Awards?
Damien Fahey: Smashing Pumpkins with the original lineup would be fantastic.
Jamie Lamm: Please, Van Halen.
What’s your favorite Grammys moment?
Brooke Hogan: Making the best-dressed list the first year that I attended the Grammys.
Brian Littrell: Performing with the Backstreet Boys and Elton John at the Grammys.
Radio Chick: My favorite Grammy memory was when Sly and the Family Stone reunited at the Grammys last year and Sly walked off the stage mid-song.
Who would you like to see as a future Grammys host?
Damien Fahey: Dave Chappelle or Jon Stewart.
Jamie Lamm: Jack Black, and Dave Chappelle.
Who should stop making music?
Radio Chick: Jessica Simpson. Her marriage is what made her interesting. Now that it’s over she should just go away.
Jamie Lamm: Corrine Bailey - I’m really tired of hearing that song. ("Put Your Records On") - and Daniel Powter. He should really stop.
Brooke Hogan:Paris Hilton.
