Fusible reports that Microsoft has bought Xbone.com, after Major Nelson called the console's mostly-affectionate nickname "disrespectful".
A WHOIS search reveals that the domain is owned by Microsoft. Currently nothing is hosted there - it redirects to a Bing search for 'Xbone' - but presumably Microsoft has bought it to prevent anybody else from using it.
On NeoGAF earlier this week, Major Nelson called the Xbone moniker disrespectful. "I don't like it...it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it's cheeky but I don't care for it myself," he wrote.
Time will tell if the Xbone nickname endures for as long as CODBLOPS. Xbox One launches on November 22nd.
What the **** else do you expect naming your console the Xbox One... XB360 is the nickname for the Xbox 360.
Microsoft is a disaster right now, you'd think out of all those "thousands of hours" they could have thought of a name that didn't give a bad moniker. You get what you deserve.
