Z100 announced this last week but here are the details:

"It’s on March 28th! The contestants will visit Gwen during her rehearsals for The Sweet Escape Tour. Gwen will talk with them about her inspirations, then the contestants will perform songs from her catalog…this will include No Doubt and solo songs. Gwen will also perform live on the show."

YAY! can't wait!

This....this might just end up being the worst performance night in the history of American Idol. But somehow Gwen will sound worse than the lot of them. Maybe someone can do "Oi To The World" to make me point and laugh.

And if I count right (and assume that Hollywood takes two weeks) that would mean the Final 11 are there. Is that right, or will the Top 12 have to butcher some Gwen.

It's quite funny she is going to be on, seeing as she's not a great singer. But they are doing the lyrics thing this year right? Like write your own song type thing. She will probably help them with that and image. Plus she has toured with ND for like 18 years now.

I said that Christina should go on. But it seems unlikely now that Gwen will appear.

Her album sales are gonna increase like CRAZYY that week!!! I think this is kind of cool, but kind of weird at the same time. Its cool that she's performing and talking about her tour and stuff, but the contestants performing her Songs???!

Usually when Idol does something like this, they usually choose artist(s) who have made a huge impact on the music scene. no offense to Gwen, but she's too recent and hasn't done much on a historical level. Her songs aren't really "singable" too. I mean image the contestants performing songs like Hollaback girl and Wind it Up. Its gonna be horrible.

The majority of her songs are more suitable for girls to perform. The guys can't really perform any of her songs. Someone please tell me one no doubt/gwen song that a guy can SERIOUSLY sing.

I honestly think that Gwen would be better off just appearing on American Idol and not performing. I really do love Gwen, but she seriously can't sing live and we all know it. I think that the guys could possibly sing It's My Life if they seriously are singing Gwen/No Doubt songs.

Grrr, if you see her live or with No Doubt she CAN sing live well, her voice is great for a touring band, it just doesn't translate well to TV.

WOW...I can't stand the level of ignorance & overall stupidity at this forum. Most of you know nothing and don't intend on understanding anymore than you do. I saw Gwen (w/ No Doubt, remember them? They are one of the biggest bands to come out of the 90's) live myself and I can assure you Gwen is capable of singing.

Anyway, I was baffled when I first learned of this but now that it has settled, this is going to be neat. There are so many ND songs I'd like to see performed by the contestants live (Sunday Morning), even if they're butchered lol.
